Friends with juniors, I highly recommend Kim! I don’t know how we would have navigated the whole college application process without her. “I had the privilege of working with Mrs. Sokop during the college application process, and I can confidently say that she was instrumental in helping me write an exceptional essay. The college essay is one of the most important pieces to getting into college, and as many others are when they first start thinking about their essay, I believed I was stuck with nothing to write about. That was until I began Mrs. Sokop’s writing workshop, where my attitude and interest towards this essay quickly changed.

In the beginning of the writing workshop, Mrs. Sokop had us do some major brainstorming. She kept me on track, and I was able to finish my essay before my senior year started, not only giving me a giant head start but also leaving me more time to complete the other parts of my applications.

I have a very motivated son who initiated and drove the college process. He was making good progress with his applications when he indicated that he needed some help with his essay (he had been working with the school guidance counselor and was struggling to “take it to the next level”). Several people had recommended Kim to us, and when I spoke with her, I was immediately impressed. She not only took the time to get to know me, but she asked insightful questions to learn more about my son and his objectives. After her first meeting with my son, he immediately seemed less anxious and more comfortable with the necessary next steps. They worked closely over the next few weeks to revise and enhance his essay; in the end, it was amazing, and I attribute that to Kim’s coaching and contributions. She pushed him to write with vulnerability, tell a compelling story, and produce an incredible finished product! My son was so grateful that he asked her to help with supplemental essays and his activities list. We were all so grateful and very pleased!

Tim applied ED and EA so his applications were submitted by November 1. Kim checked in with us periodically throughout the month and when my son was accepted to his ED school, we both reached out to share the good news. Kim was genuinely excited to hear from us and spoke with me for well over an hour that morning (thinking about it again makes me emotional). She was just as vested in his acceptance as we were; she is the perfect ally to have in your corner as you are going through the process.

My younger son will be applying to schools in two years and I intend to engage Kim again (except earlier in the process). Her insight and experiences are priceless, and her coaching and guidance are invaluable. If you are on the fence – don’t hesitate to call Kim – you won’t regret it!
